Why does it typically suck? Abysmal voice acting is generally the biggest complaint I hear about games. Why does it have to be this way? Developers: when your game is completely solid in all other aspects, why must you ruin the atmosphere you've so skillfully crafted by hiring mediocre actors to drone over your scripts? I'm guessing money might be a big reason, but it's not even so much that you need to hire Hollywood A-listers to do the job, all I'm asking is for some voices of people who actually seem to
care about the game. Is that so hard? If your actors don't care if their characters live, die, suffer, or are happy, then why should we? Would it be that difficult to hire somebody who was enthusiastic about playing the part? I'm not even asking for superb voice acting, I'm just asking for some sort of emotion in the voices. Some effort. Some sincerity. If the actor is enjoying doing the part, chances are we'll enjoy hearing them, even if they're not the best in the business.
